To Santa....Or Not To Santa....That Is The Question

With Christmas fast approaching I have been at a stand still on what I should do about the issue of Santa, but before we get into that allow me to back track a bit.

A few weeks ago my 9 year old son was grounded to his room for an evening after lying to his father and I about what he was doing when he was at the library. Instead of reading like he told us he was doing he was actually playing video games, which has been banned from our home after another situation we had a few months ago.

After having to punish my son for his lying, I brought to my husband the idea that we as parents should always model the way we want our children to act, for example if we want our children to have respect for others, then we should show respect for others, children learn from what they see.

So, now that you have a bit of background I ask you this...Do you feel telling your children Santa is real is a lie? Or do you just not talk about Santa and make Christmas all about Jesus and his birth?

After many nights of long discussions with my husband and long weeks of praying we decided it would be best to tell our children the truth about Santa, because one of the 10 commandments is "Thou shall not lie", right? and telling children Santa is real is a lie, right?

So, what does your family do? I am interested in seeing what everyone does for their own families, I know there will be lots of different answers so please do not feel like you are wrong, the world is beautiful because of all the diversity in it today :)
