I always have issues when I try to cut tomatoes, it doesn't matter which knife I use or how ripe or unripe my tomato is I can never cut it without smashing the poor thing. It's always a juicy mess for sure. While these knives do make it a bit easier I still found them to be pretty dull right out of the box. Now, I have never really purchased new knives before so maybe they are made to be dull and you as the consumer have to sharpen them? I am not sure. We got a set of knives for our wedding years ago and they were the sharpest things we have ever seen, right out of the box.
The handles on these knives are a high quality ABS coating TPR. The TPR is the anti-slip rubber material that helps ensure you will always have a firm grip on the knife even with wet hands. This is important to me because I have a habit of washing my hands a lot when in the kitchen cooking, I really dislike cross-contamination and most times after I wash my hands I fail to dry them completely.
When you order this ceramic knife set you get three knives in the decorative gift box. You will get a 4" fruit knife, that can also be used for paring, a 5" utility knife that is fantastic for carving and slicing things, and also the 6" chef knife that can be used for thick cuts and precision work, such as cutting meats or even chopping up potatoes.
