Snug Baby Monitor for Smartphones #Review

Back when I had my first son they hardly even had baby monitors now they make this wonderful video ones. Not only can you hear your baby but now you can monitor them through video and not just video on a receiver but through an app that can be downloaded to your smartphone. I will say technology has come a long way over the years but I am not sure whether this is a good thing or a bad thing to be honest.

When I first saw this baby monitor I was excited and thought it would be really awesome to be able to see my kids without trying to open a door and peek inside. My excitement passed rather quickly once I thought back a few months to the event that happened in Texas as well as other states around the US, you may or may not have heard about them, although they did make headlines in the media.

Parents from all over had WiFi video baby monitors to monitor their children as they slept safely in their nurseries, but this safety was soon corrupted by hackers who would hack into the WiFi and talk to and view these innocent children. While they can not technically cause physical harm to these children the Lord only knows what or why they would feel the need to spy on young children in the first place.

Now, this particular video monitor from Snug has an added protective feature, when you put the app onto your phone you not only have to log into your personal WiFi network (which I am assuming should be password protected) but you can also choose to add a password to get into the app as well. While this may calm some fears of parents I am still leery about using it because you just never know and to be honest if we have hackers out there skilled enough to break into government agencies and their WiFi then who is to say they can't crack our personal WiFi accounts?

This is however, a review and I am sorry for going off on a tangent there about safety, this product is easy to use and easy to set up. You can also use this not only in the nursery but anywhere you want to monitor to be honest. You download the app onto your smartphone, either your iPhone or Android and then follow the instructions and you are ready in a few minutes. This has a great and high resolution to the picture as long as your phone screen has a good resolution and according to the site you can also view the video through your desktop.

Overall, for the price I think this is a good investment if you are in the market for a video baby monitor.
