Jesus often spoke in parables, which are defined as "a simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson, as told by Jesus in the Gospels." Some people have a hard time understanding or interpretation of those parables, which if you ask me is why this book is so wonderful.
The book "Parables" by John Macarthur does a wonderful job putting into perspective and understandable language some of these parables. There are many different ways of thinking as to why Jesus would speak in parables, according to this book though the reason was because the parables were "symbols of the Lord's condemnation on those who had rejected His clear teachings." This book helps to show how Jesus used parables to reveal the unfolding mystery of God’s kingdom.
I found this book easy to read as well as very interesting to read. While no one really knows for sure what Jesus meant in His parables there are many intelligent interpreters who explain what they think Jesus meant but the truth is only Jesus knows what he meant. This would make a wonderful small group study in my opinion, and it also helps that this book has an accompanying workbook to help out as well. You can find the workbook here.
